General Arvind Walia, an alumnus of the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun, is a distinguished officer of the Corps of Engineers with a seniority date of December 1986. He earned the prestigious Silver Medal during his training and has extensive operational experience from various command and staff roles throughout his career. His commands include an independent squadron in the desert, a regiment in Jammu and Kashmir, and an engineer brigade along the Western front, as well as leading the MEG & Centre in Bangalore.
He is a graduate of several military institutions, including the Defence Services Staff College, the College of Defence Management, and the National Defence College. General Walia has excelled in all military courses and holds multiple advanced degrees, including a BE in Civil Engineering from BITS Pilani, an MSc in Defence and Strategic Studies, a Master of Management Studies, and an MPhil from both Osmania and Madras universities.
Additionally, he has served as an instructor at the College of Defence Management and the National Defence College, and has held key staff positions such as Brigade Major of a Mountain Brigade, Director in the Engineer-in-Chief’s Branch, Brigadier Quartermaster in a Strike Corps, Chief Engineer of a Command, and Chief of Staff at a Command Headquarters.
