Major General Deepak Berry, an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, was commissioned into the Corps of Engineers on June 10, 1989. He has held a diverse range of executive and staff appointments and is qualified in the Higher Command and National Defence Courses.
The General Officer has successfully completed all mandatory courses required for his service, excelling in notable programs such as B.Tech in Civil Engineering from CME, M.Tech in Building Technology and Construction Management from IIT Chennai, the Senior Course at the Armed Warfare Course, and the Higher Defence Management Course at the College of Defence Management.
He has served in key positions including General Engineer, Chief Works Engineer, Sudt Training at MEG & Centre Bangalore, and Colonel Q (Works). His previous appointments include Chief Construction Engineer at Army Headquarters/CCE (Projects) in Delhi, Brigadier Quartermaster of HQ 21 Corps, and Chief Engineer of Eastern Command.
On October 13, 2023, he took over as Additional Director General of Engineering Services in the Engineer-in-Chief’s Branch at the Integrated Headquarters of the Ministry of Defence (Army), where he is responsible for the procurement and provisioning of engineering plants and equipment for units across the Indian Army.
For his distinguished service, he has received the AOC-in-C Western Air Command Commendation Card and the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Commendation Card from Southern Command.
